You can add invitations to the calendar when you are added as an attendee.
While viewing your invitations, you have the option to list all the open invitations that you have not accepted, declined, or tentatively accepted. You can select one or more of the invitations and accept, decline, or tentatively accept each of these invitations. In case you cannot accept an invitation, due to a conflicting timing, request for an alternative date. Accepted invitations will inherit the default notification that you set.
